Heigert wedding

I love working with familiar people.

Word-of-mouth referrals have led to me shooting numerous weddings that make me think, “I know a lot of the people out here on the dance floor…” This makes my job really fun, and a lot easier to do. People are a lot less likely to duck away from the guy with the camera if they recognize the face behind it. So, naturally Josh and Laura’s wedding was a fantastic time.

Alida and I had met the bride, Laura, back in 2008 when we shot her sister Christie’s wedding. This July, Christie was the matron of honor, and her husband was the DJ. So we knew we were in for a good time and would see some friends at the reception.

To top it off, the wedding was themed around baseball. Laura is a Cubs fan, and Josh is a Cardinals fan, so what better way to celebrate their rivalry than to get married on the day of the Cubs/Cards game. They served popcorn, Cracker Jack, and horseshoes, and had the game projected on a screen at the reception.

The extra cherry on top was the choice of wedding favors for the guests: personalized baseballs.

The whole day was a blast, and it was a lot of fun to work with some old friends while making new ones.
